Role Overview:
EXPLO is seeking an Admissions Counselor & Summer Staff to join our year-round team. This position combines relationship-driven admissions and enrollment work with hands-on involvement in our residential summer program.
Throughout the year, you will manage a portfolio of prospective students and families, building relationships from initial inquiry through enrollment. You will help families understand the EXPLO experience, identify the right program for their child, and confidently navigate the admissions process.
During the summer, your work shifts from helping families choose EXPLO to helping bring the EXPLO experience to life. You will live and work on campus at Wellesley College. Your summer assignment will be based on your experience, strengths, and program needs and may include student life, programming, or campus operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in admissions, enrollment, education, student affairs, youth programming, recruitment, or relationship-based sales who enjoys connecting with families and wants to be directly involved in the programs they help students discover.
What You’ll Do:
Admissions & Recruitment (Year-Round):
- Conduct outreach to prospective families via phone, email, web, social media, and in-person events.
- Meet enrollment goals using effective sales and relationship-building strategies.
- Manage applicants from inquiry through enrollment and maintain admissions tracking.
- Interview and evaluate students, making admissions decisions that support an inclusive campus community.
- Collaborate with Admissions, Programs, Student Financial Aid, Marketing, Analytics, and Operations teams.
Summer Program Responsibilities (On-Campus at Wellesley College):
- Live on campus for one week of orientation + four weeks of student programming.
- Serve in a role aligned with your skills (student life, programming, or operations).
- Execute campus responsibilities determined prior to program start.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Contribute ideas for improving programming and recruitment.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree (required).
- 2–5 years of experience in admissions, education, youth programming, or related fields.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments and manage multiple priorities.
- Cultural competence and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Adaptability and a “make-it-happen” mindset.
Special Requirements:
- Required on-campus residency during summer program.
- Occasional evenings/weekends.
- Domestic travel for recruitment.
