EXPLO | Norwood, Massachusetts
Salary: $65,000-$69,000 annually
Schedule: Hybrid with one office day per week, plus a five-week summer residential assignment at Wellesley College
Help families discover EXPLO and spend part of your summer bringing that experience to life. This year-round role combines admissions and enrollment work with direct involvement in a summer learning community.
About EXPLO
EXPLO is a nonprofit educational organization that helps young people discover new interests, explore possibilities, and learn through experience. Through hands-on learning, collaboration, and play, our summer programs bring students together to ask questions, build friendships, and discover what excites them.
We’re looking for a curious, personable, and organized colleague who enjoys building relationships and helping students find opportunities to grow.
The Opportunity
As an Admissions Counselor and Summer Staff, you’ll guide prospective students and families from their first inquiry through enrollment. You’ll manage a portfolio of families, explain what makes EXPLO distinctive, and help each family identify the right program for their child while working toward enrollment goals.
During the summer, you’ll join our residential team at Wellesley College for one week of orientation and four weeks of student programming. Your assignment may include student life, programming, or campus operations, depending on your strengths and program needs. You’ll get to see the impact of your admissions work firsthand.
What You’ll Do
- Connect with families: Lead conversations by phone, email, virtual meetings, social media, and in-person events, providing thoughtful guidance and timely follow-up.
- Guide the admissions process: Interview and evaluate applicants, make admissions decisions, and maintain accurate records from inquiry through enrollment.
- Support enrollment goals: Develop relationships, conduct outreach, and participate in recruitment events and domestic travel.
- Collaborate across EXPLO: Work with colleagues in Programs, Financial Aid, Marketing, Analytics, and Operations to improve recruitment and the family experience.
- Contribute on campus: Carry out your summer assignment and help create a welcoming, engaging, and supportive community for students and colleagues.
- Bring ideas and initiative: Suggest improvements, solve problems, and adapt as team and program priorities evolve.
What You Bring
- A bachelor’s degree and two to five years of relevant experience in admissions, enrollment, education, student affairs, youth programming, recruitment, or relationship-based sales.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with students and families from varied backgrounds.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, attention to detail, and dependable follow-through.
- The ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and collaborate across teams.
- Cultural competence and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Flexibility, initiative, and a practical approach to solving problems.
Compensation, Benefits, and Schedule
Along with an annual salary of $65,000-$69,000, EXPLO offers:
- Paid time off: Three weeks of vacation, plus most federal holidays.
- Hybrid flexibility: One day per week in our Norwood office outside the summer residential assignment.
- Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
- A 403(b) retirement plan with employer matching contributions.
- Medical and dependent care flexible spending accounts (FSAs).
The position requires living and working at Wellesley College for five weeks during the summer, occasional evening and weekend work, and domestic recruitment travel.
